First off, I need to apologize to you all for slacking off on my newsletter. I said at the beginning of the year that I’d publish at least twice a month. Well, I missed last week but for a good reason.
My son has been ill, and caring for a sick child takes lots of time and effort. I’ve also been burning the candle at both ends with my day job and my freelance work. Basically, I haven’t made the time to write. As a hold over until I get more of my thoughts down, here are 10 film photos from the past year. I know many of you liked my photography post last year.
As always, I appreciate your support!
For reference, these photos were taken on a Nikon N8008 with a 50mm 1.8 lens using Portra 400 color film.
My friend Brian's VW Westfalia Camper at a car show. I've always thought these were super cool. My sons love them. I sometimes dream about getting one but then wake up to the realization that maintaining another old, German vehicle wouldn't be fun.
Jaaaaaag! I love how the colors pop on this image. The red, black and chrome colors are expressive and show the depth of this glorious E-Type engine bay.
The British sports car will always be cool. The materials used in this Austin-Healey are top-level luxury. I wouldn't mind spending some time here.
Southern Fried Rides says it all.
I think the C2 generation of the Corvette is the greatest American car ever made. The fact that NASA astronauts drove them makes it even cooler (even if it was smart marketing on GM's part).
Every so often I'm able to do a one-on-one drive with my son in the 911. I always cherish these drives because he tells me all sorts of funny things. He's been riding in the back of my Porsche since he was a newborn. I can't wait to teach him how to drive it.
T loves taking pictures of old cars. I was able to snap a sneaky picture of him in the act.
Bear Lake is referred to as the Caribbean of the Rockies due to its blue color. I've been going to Bear Lake since before I can remember. I have photos of my grandparents going to Bear Lake when they were younger. If you live in Utah, it's a summer staple. I jokingly call it Utah's Martha's Vineyard.
I spent a lot of time when I was younger hiking around the Bear River Range in northern Utah. This shot was taken at the Paris Ice Caves in Idaho. The mountains are in fact my happy place.
Of all the photos that were taken last year, this one is by far the best. Not because I'm in it but because the composition, color, expressions and focus are spot on. My wife is clearly a better photographer than I am—even if she won't admit it.

Love the pictures! Hope the kiddo feels better soon
Great read. Love your pictures and live the Bear Lake mountain range. I am glad you have made good memories there as I have. Thanks again.
