Walking is the greatest source of ideas for me. Whenever I need to get out, clear my mind, and get a little exercise, I take a walk.
I’ve been feeling a constant nag for the past few months to do something creative. Whether that be putting videos out on YouTube, publishing photos on Instagram, or just writing in my journal, I’m feeling compelled to create something.
Ok, so, what’s been holding me back?
I’m not 100% certain but my best guess is my ego and/or pride. That’s because when you put something out into the world you face the possibility of it being rejected. And who likes being rejected? I’d like to think rejection doesn’t bother me but it does.
So this is me putting something creative out into the world.
As for this newsletter, I have lots of things I want to talk about. I have several hobbies that I indulge in when I have the time. And this is the place where I want to expound on those indulgences—and I won’t be boring my wife to death about it.
In a weak attempt to get motivated, I watched some YouTube videos about how to get started with a newsletter. And the general advice I gathered was that you should start by writing about things you’re interested in. That way, you’ll have an intrinsic motivation to keep going.
Here are some topics that I’m intrinsically motivated about:
Journaling
Stoicism
Cars
Watches
Fatherhood
Music
I could probably list 10 more topics but I’ll stop.
With that in mind, I’m going to finish this post for now and go on a walk. It’s beautiful out and I need to get some thinking done.
Thank you for checking out my writing and I look forward to connecting with you.
